Uses
Diprosone Cream (Betamethasone Dipropionate) is applied topically to the skin of patients affected by various conditions causing redness and swelling, such as eczema, psoriasis, prurigo nodularis, lichen planus, generalised erythroderma and other similar conditions. The active ingredient in this cream is a potent topical corticosteroid which can reduce inflammation and itchiness. It also has vasoconstrictive effects.
Application of this cream to the skin helps to lessen and provide effective relief from inflammation and itching. This is achieved by causing a reduction in the release of the inflammatory substances which cause irritation and other symptoms present in eczema or other skin conditions. As this cream is considered potent when compared to other corticosteroids, it is usually prescribed when other milder treatments have failed to effectively relieve symptoms.
Dosage and Administration
Diprosone Cream (Betamethasone Dipropionate) is used topically. After examining your condition, your doctor will tell you how much cream is needed to treat your symptoms. Doctors generally consider 4 weeks of treatment to be the maximum length of time for which it should be used. It is important to thoroughly wash the hands after application of the cream, unless the hands require treatment.
