Uses
Diprosone Ointment (Betamethasone Dipropionate) is used to treat a chronic condition that affects the skin known as psoriasis. This problem occurs as a result of the immune system's overactivity and can cause the skin to become flaky and inflamed. Thick, white patches can also occur on the skin, which may be noticeable on the knees, hands, elbows or elsewhere on the body. Eczema (atopic dermatitis) is also responsive to treatment with this product, and symptoms which may be relieved by use of this ointment include dry, red and itchy skin.
This medicated ointment is a potent topical corticosteroid which is effective against dermatoses and psoriasis. Its immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory actions help to relieve pain, itching and swelling and other symptoms occurring on the skin of patients affected by eczema and psoriasis.
Dosage and Administration
Diprosone Ointment (Betamethasone Dipropionate) is generally recommended by doctors for use on skin which is scaly and dry. When seeking treatment for eczema or psoriasis, it is necessary to consult your doctor for advice. The appropriate treatment may then be determined, based on how serious your condition is. Do not use too much of the ointment. This will not speed up the recovery process, and may even result in more side effects. Adults are generally told to apply the ointment twice per day to the affected area, however, doctors may recommend once daily application for maintenance treatment in certain cases. Prolonged use is not recommended by doctors.
