Uses
Estradot (Oestradiol) is an estrogen replacement therapy which is used to manage symptoms of menopause for women. It is effective in alleviating symptoms such as hot flushes, vaginal dryness, sweatiness, chills and abnormal bleeding from the uterine. This medication works by releasing estrogen into the blood stream via your skin. Estrogen is a natural hormone which is normally produced by women`s ovaries but gradually production declines with age.
In addition to the uses listed above, Estradot can be combined with progestin for patients who have had their womb or uterus removed in a hysterectomy, and is also effective in prevent osteoporosis when used alongside other methods of therapy such as exercise, vitamin D supplements, and calcium supplements.
Dosage and administration
Dosage may depend on the condition you are treating as the severity of the condition. Always medicate following the advice of your doctor to ensure the dosages you are taking are suitable for you.
Typically, new patches are applied twice a week, on the same days each week. Popular application location include the buttocks, hip, or lower abdomen ,with preference to the buttocks as it has been reported to irritate the user less than other locations. Alternate the locations each time, and to allow skin to recover do not use the same location more than once consecutively.
Do not apply to the breast area or over any damaged, irritated, or sensitive skin.
Side effects
The most common side effects include headaches, heartburn, vomiting, fatigue, irritated skin, trouble sleeping, increased breast sensitivity, excess vaginal secretion, darkened skin, ear aches, and fluid retention. If any of these worsen, become bothersome, or worrying, inform your doctor promptly.
Inform your doctor immediately if you notice persistent abdomen pains, severe nausea or vomiting, abnormal bruising, changes to your menstruation, jaundice, or any fever symptoms.
