Uses
Frusemide Sandoz (Frusemide) is a type of diuretic (also known as a water pill), which is used to decrease inflammation and fluid retention, especially if it is caused by heart or liver disease. It works by helping the body to produce an increased amount of urine, which in turn allows the body to rid itself of excess salt and water. Patients suffering from hypertension (high blood pressure) may be prescribed this drug to treat their condition. In some cases, this drug has been used to treat hypercalcaemia (high levels of calcium in the blood).
Dosage and administration
Frusemide Sandoz (Frusemide) tablets are taken by mouth. You may be told by your doctor to take it once per day, in the morning, or else twice per day (once in the morning and again in the afternoon). It is recommended to avoid taking it in the 4 hours before you go to bed, so as to avoid waking up repeatedly during the night to urinate. If you have been prescribed this medication to treat high blood pressure, you should be aware that this drug will not cure high blood pressure, but will only control it. Therefore, it is necessary to continue taking it unless your doctor tells you not to.
