Uses
Lumacip Plus (Flucinolone Acetonide/Hydroquinone/Tretinoin) is effective in the treatment of melasma. Its unique combination of 3 different active ingredients work together to lighten and heal the skin, while also helping to protect it. Melasma can affect the face, causing discolouration and dark patches due to hyperpigmentation. In some cases, it may be hormone related. Flucinolone is a mild topical anti-inflammatory corticosteroid which is added to this cream so as to relieve and decrease inflammation on the skin.
Hydroquinone is a type of depigmenting agent, and its mechanism of action is affecting the process in which melanin (the pigment produced by the skin which gives it a dark colour) is formed. This results in an overall skin-brightening effect, and helps to reverse the darkening caused by melasma. Tretinoin is a form of vitamin A which is sometimes referred to as retinoic acid. It is renowned for its exfoliating properties, and is effective in enhancing the rate of skin cell turnover and improving the overall appearance of the skin.
Dosage and Administration
Lumacip Plus (Flucinolone Acetonide/Hydroquinone/Tretinoin) must be used exactly as your doctor or dermatologist directs. In general, patients will be advised to apply it at night, roughly half an hour before going to bed. You may wash and dry the face before applying the cream. Doctors normally instruct patients to use a pea sized amount of cream, which should then be applied thinly and uniformly to the area which is discoloured. The cream should disappear after it is rubbed in. If any cream remains visible on the skin, this is a sign that too much has been used. In general, treatment will be on a short term basis (8 weeks), and your doctor will tell you when to stop using it.
