Uses
M-Enalapril (Enalapril Maleate) is bioactivated due to a process referred to as hydrolysis, which results in it being converted to an active angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor. It works by inhibiting the rennin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. This in turn prevents vassopressor action (the increase of blood pressure), and as a result of this, makes it an effective antihypertensive agent in the treatment of high blood pressure. Other disorders for which it is used include congestive heart failure and left ventricular dysfunction.
