Captopril

Uses
Captopril (Captopril) is used to treat a variety of health conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure), certain heart conditions and kidney problems related to diabetes. IT is an ACE inhibitor which works by widening the blood vessels, allowing easier blood flow and taking strain away from the heart.

Dosage and Administration
Captopril (Captopril) is administered orally at the same time(s) each day to achieve best results. Wash tablets down with a full glass of water.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is closer to the time of your next dose, simple skip the missed dose and continue as normal. Never double or increase a dose to compensate for a missed one, and always inform your doctor if you skip a dose.

Seek urgent medical attention if you think you have overdosed.

Side effects
Side effects which have been reported by patients taking Captopril (Captopril) include:

• Nausea
• Diarrhoea
• Dizziness
• Weakness
• Headaches
• Dry cough
• Muscle cramps
• Insomnia

The following side effects may be unsafe and should be reported to your doctor immediately:

• Confusion
• Mood changes
• Mouth ulcers
• Difficulty breathing
• Abnormal bruising
• Jaundice
• Decreased urination
• Increased heart beat
• Hives or other skin irritations

Precautions
Do not drive any vehicles or operate any heavy machinery until you are used to using this drug and know how your body reacts after dosing. Patients have reported sudden dizziness and weakness.

Do not consume alcohol while using this medication as it will heighten the severity of side effects.

Excessive exercise is not recommended while using this medication as dehydration can occur.

Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and all use of UV lamps and tanning beds, as this medication increases the skins sensitivity to sunlight.

If you have any upcoming medical procedures or surgeries, including dental work, always inform the surgeon or dentist in charge that you are using this medication.

Special monitoring is required by elderly patients and children. Always attend all appointments.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Captopril (Captopril) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:
