Arrow-Lisinopril

Uses
Arrow-Lisinopril (Lisinopril) is used to lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients. It works by inhibiting the angiotensin converting enzyme. This medicine is synthetic and is said to be long acting. It belongs to a class of medicines referred to as angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. In the body, there is a substance known as ACE which is responsible for catalyzing the production of angiotensin II from angiotensin I.

Symptoms of high blood pressure can occur due to angiotensin II triggering the secretion of aldosterone and causing the blood vessels to become tight and narrow. Treatment with this medicine helps to lessen the amount of angiotensin II that is produced, and this has an effect on the blood vessels, allowing them to become wider. As a direct result of this, high blood pressure can be reduced. Other conditions which have not been listed here are also sometimes treated with this medicine.

Dosage and Administration
Arrow-Lisinopril (Lisinopril) comes as 5mg tablets which are taken by mouth. Every patient's individual circumstances are different and your doctor will need to take this into consideration when calculating the dosage. Adults treating congestive heart failure are often told to start treatment with 5mg (one tablet). Changes may be ordered by the doctor for maintenance treatment, and in general, the maintenance dosage ranges from 5mg to 20mg per day. High blood pressure, diabetic nephropathy and other conditions may need to be treated with a different dosage schedule. Follow the instructions of your doctor.

Side effects
Patients undergoing treatment with Arrow-Lisinopril (Lisinopril) may experience some side effects, including:

• Vertigo
• Headaches
• Mood changes
• Cold symptoms
• Feeling more tired than usual

Precautions
