Uses
Arrow-Lisinopril (Lisinopril) is prescribed for use either on its own, or in combination with other drugs for treating hypertension (more commonly referred to as high blood pressure). The main ingredient in this drug is a type of ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitor. It lowers high blood pressure by widening the blood vessels. This widening of the vessels is achieved by preventing the body from producing a certain natural compound which can heighten pressure in the blood vessels.
Dosage and Administration
Arrow-Lisinopril (Lisinopril) can be used to treat different conditions, and in addition to the illnesses listed above, doctors may also prescribe it as a treatment for diabetic nephropathy and myocardial infarction. Different conditions require different dosage regimens, and all patients need a medical assessment to determine the correct dosage. Hypertension is generally treated with 10mg per day (for patients who are not taking a diuretic). Maintenance therapy requires 20mg to 40mg (in some cases, higher doses may be prescribed). Remember that this dosage information is for reference only, and you will need to see your doctor to determine the correct dosage.
