Uses
Olmesmart 40 (Olmesartan Medoxomil) is a high blood pressure (hypertension) treatment which works by widening the peripheral arteries. It is referred to by medical professionals as a selective angiotensin II receptor antagonist, and its antihypertensive effects are due to it preventing the ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) from catalyzing the formation of angiotensin II. This helps to prevent the overstimulation of the heart and the tightening of blood vessels.

In addition to this, it also helps to bring about a significant reduction in the amount of the hormone aldosterone in the kidneys, and this helps prevent excess salt and water retention, while also lowering the levels of fluid inside the blood vessels. All of this helps to reduce resistance in the blood vessels, allowing for more space in the arteries. This helps to lower the pressure in the blood vessels, making it effective in the management of hypertension.

Dosage and Administration
Olmesmart 40 (Olmesartan Medoxomil) tablets are available as a 40mg strength formula for administration by mouth. Those who are being treated for hypertension will first need to have the severity of their symptoms assessed by their doctor, after which a suitable dosing schedule can be determined. Adult patients being treated for high blood pressure may be told by their doctor to begin treatment with 20mg once per day.

If the doctor decides that a further decrease in blood pressure is required, the dosage may be increased to 40mg per day after 2 weeks. The doctor may also decide to use other medications to help control blood pressure. Side effects
Patients undergoing treatment with Olmesmart 40 (Olmesartan Medoxomil) might suffer from side effects, which could include the following:
