Uses
Metolar XR 100 (Metoprolol) is mainly used to treat angina (chest pain), hypertension and to prevent migraines. This drug is a beta blocker, and when taken by the patient it begins to work by blocking the beta receptors in the body. As a result of this, the heart beat is slowed down, thereby reducing high blood pressure. Chest pain and angina attacks may also be prevented as a result of this, due to the heart using less energy. Doctors consider this drug to be versatile, and it may also be prescribed to treat an overactive thyroid, irregular heartbeats and anxiety disorders.
Dosage and Administration
Metolar XR 100 (Metoprolol) extended release capsules are taken orally, exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Under no circumstances should you take more than the amount your doctor has told you to take. In most cases, adult patients are directed by the prescribing doctor to take one capsule per day. However, this may vary for some patients, and you are advised to strictly follow the advice provided to you by your doctor. You will most likely be advised by your doctor not to stop taking this drug without medical advice, as your dosage may need to be gradually decreased.
