Uses
Mignar-50 (Miglitol) is an anti-diabetic medication that works by decreasing the rate at which starches and carbohydrates are digested after a meal, which in turn helps to maintain glycemic control and prevents high amounts of sugar entering into the bloodstream after eating. This is not achieved by increasing the secretion of insulin, but by inhibiting certain intestinal enzymes so as to slow down the digestion of carbohydrates. As a result of this, better control of blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes is achieved.
Dosage and Administration
Mignar-50 (Miglitol) tablets need to be administered at the start of each main meal in order to effectively prevent blood sugar levels from rising after eating a meal. The medicine content of these tablets is 50mg, however the dosage can vary, depending on individual circumstances. In some cases, adjustment to the dosage may be made if your doctor decides that it is necessary. Generally, patients are told to take the specified dosage (which will differ from patient to patient) 3 times per day. Do not take more than your doctor tells you to take.
