Uses
Montair (Montelukast Sodium) is widely used to help prevent asthma symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, coughing and wheezing. In addition to this, it is used to prevent the occurrence of exercise induced bronchospasm. Another use for this drug is preventing and treating seasonal and year round allergy symptoms, such as allergic rhinitis (runny nose). The active ingredient in this medication is in a group of drugs called leukotriene receptor antagonists, and it works by inhibiting the action of certain chemicals in the body responsible for causing asthma and allergy symptoms.

Dosage and Administration
Montair (Montelukast Sodium) comes in the form of tablets. Prior to commencing treatment with this drug, you must see your doctor for a medical check, in order to determine the correct dosage. In some cases, adults taking this drug may be told to take it once per day. Those who are treating asthma may be told to take it during the evening. If your doctor has told you to take it to prevent breathing difficulties caused by exercise, you may be told to take it 2 hours before exercising. However, an extra dose prior to exercising should not be taken if you are already taking it as part of a regular schedule.

Side effects
If you have been prescribed Montair (Montelukast Sodium) tablets, it is possible that some side effects may occur, such as:

• Headaches
• Pain affecting the stomach or teeth
• Dizziness
• Fever
• Fatigue

If any side effects persist or become more serious, you should consult your doctor immediately. There is also the possibility that other more severe side effects may occur. If you notice sinus pain, itchiness, tremors, changes in mood, unusual bruising or any other side effects not mentioned here, you must consult your doctor immediately.

Precautions
If you have a history of suffering from liver disease, it is necessary to tell your doctor before you begin taking this medication.

If you are taking Phenobarbital or rifampin, it is necessary to tell your doctor before you begin taking this medication.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Montair (Montelukast Sodium) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
