Uses
Montair (Montelukast Sodium) is given as part of a regular treatment programme to patients suffering from asthma, to prevent symptoms such as breathlessness and to reduce the occurrence of asthma attacks. Other uses include treating a stuffy or runny nose caused by allergies, and preventing breathing difficulties caused by exercise in patients prone to this. This drug is a type of LTRA (leukotriene receptor antagonist), and its mode of action involves blocking certain substances in the body which are responsible for causing breathing problems and other related symptoms.
Dosage and Administration
Your doctor will tell you when to take Montair (Montelukast Sodium) tablets. Follow his or her instructions in order to achieve the best results. The dosage requirements can vary, depending on why this medication is being used. Treatment and prevention of asthma symptoms normally requires taking it once per day, in the evening. One dose per day is also the generally recommended dose for treating allergy symptoms, however, when treating this condition, the medication may be taken any time during the day. Patients who are taking this drug to prevent bronchospasms are advised to take it at least 2 hours prior to the commencement of exercise.
