Uses
Nicotinell TTS 10 (Nicotine) transdermal patches are used for quitting smoking. This form of treatment is referred to as nicotine replacement therapy, as it aims to substitute the nicotine that a smoker would normally obtain from a cigarette with nicotine delivered directly to the bloodstream via a patch on the skin. As nicotine is addictive, people may suffer withdrawal symptoms and cravings. This patch aims to relieve these symptoms, without the need to smoke a cigarette, and when used properly alongside behavioural therapy, it may help make it easier for smokers to eventually give up smoking entirely.
Dosage and Administration
Nicotinell TTS 10 (Nicotine) patches each contain 17.5mg of nicotine, and on average, the rate of absorption is 7mg in a 24 hour period. Your doctor will advise you on the correct strength of patch to use, as heavier smokers may need to use a stronger patch when beginning treatment. Generally, these nicotine patches (TTS 10) are used by patients who have already undergone step 2 of the nicotinell patch treatment plan (use of the TTS 20 patches). In all cases, it will be necessary to see your doctor for advice on which patch to use, how to use it, and how long you will need to continue using it for.
