Uses
Nizral (Ketoconazole) is an antifungal medication. It is commonly prescribed to treat various different infections caused by fungus. These infections can affect any part of the body, such as the throat, lungs, skin, urinary tract and nails. This medicine works by preventing and slowing the growth of the fungi. Other conditions for which doctors may prescribe this drug include treating protozoal infections, high calcium levels or Cushing's syndrome.
Dosage and Administration
You must take Nizral (Ketoconazole) tablets exactly as directed by your doctor. It is possible to take this medication with or without food, however if taken with food, the chances of a stomach upset are greatly reduced. The most commonly prescribed dosage is one tablet per day, however, this may differ for certain patients, and patients must only take the amount their doctor tells them to take. Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.
