Uses
Omnacortil 5 (Prednisolone) is a synthetic version of a corticosteroid hormone (a substance that is normally produced naturally by the adrenal gland). It has a wide range of medical applications, including the treatment of allergies, respiratory conditions, eczema, dermatitis herpetiformis, disseminated lupus erythematosus, adrenal hyperplasia, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, gout and various other conditions which have not been listed here.

The active component in this medicine is derived from cortisone. It has potent therapeutic benefits and anti-inflammatory properties. Reduction of inflammation occurs due to it blocking the release of chemicals from the immune system that are responsible for both allergic and immune responses. This leads to control and treatment of a wide range of inflammatory conditions and allergies, especially when inflammation is a key factor in causing symptoms.

Dosage and Administration
Omnacortil 5 (Prednisolone) is only to be used for oral administration. This medicine is used to treat many different medical conditions, and because of this, the individual dosage may vary considerably. Your doctor will determine the dosage required based on the condition being treated, the response to treatment as well as other factors. Generally, patients are told to start out with an initial dosage which may range from 5mg to 80mg per day.

The patient may be told to take the medicine as one dose, administered after the consumption of breakfast, in divided doses or else a double dose given on alternate days. Adjustment to the initial dosage may be made, and the maintenance dosage usually ranges from 5mg to 20mg per day. Never adjust your dosage unless doing so under the instruction of your doctor.

Precautions
Corticosteroid medicines may reduce the immune system, making you more susceptible to infections or else causing any infections that you are currently suffering from to become worse. Inform your doctor if you have recently suffered from any infections.

Sudden cessation of medical treatment with this medicine could result in withdrawal symptoms. Your doctor will provide you with advice on how to minimise the risk of this.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Omnacortil 5 (Prednisolone) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:
