Uses
Penvir (Famciclovir) is uesd to treat the virus that causes shingles and genital herpes. It does not cure either condition but reduces the itchiness and helps to heal any sores or blisters in the infected area. This medication works by inhibiting the ability of the virus to reproduce, reducing the spread of infection.
Dosage and Administration
Penvir (Famciclovir) comes as 250mg tablets. You will need to visit your doctor so that the correct dosage can be prescribed to you. The exact dosage prescribed will be based on your medical condition, as well as other factors. Adults who are treating herpes zoster are often directed to take 500mg every 8 hours.
