Uses
Pregabid-75 (Pregabalin) is used for three main purposes. Patients with epilepsy are often given this drug (sometimes alongside other medicines) to prevent seizures. It is also prescribed for pain, such as that caused by fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy and postherpetic neuralgia (pain occurring after having shingles). In addition to this, adults are sometimes prescribed it to help treat generalised anxiety disorder.

This drug helps to stabilise brain activity and decrease the amount of glutamate released in the brain, which makes it an effective anticonvulsant (anti-epileptic drug). As well as this, it can reduce pain signals sent across the body, making it effective at treating neuropathic pain. Medical studies have taken place, to determine the effects of this drug if used for migraine, perioperative pain and other types of chronic pain.

Dosage and Administration
The right dosage of Pregabid-75 (Pregabalin) depends on the condition it is being used to treat. After a full medical assessment, your doctor will tell you the correct amount to take, which can vary for each patient. It is possible that adults treating epilepsy will be told to take 75mg, twice per day. Higher doses have sometimes been used as an adjunctive therapy, however, the amount prescribed will always be decided by the prescribing doctor.

Adult patients taking this medicine for fibromyalgia must listen carefully to the directions given by their doctor. Patients treating this condition are sometimes started out on 75mg (twice a day), which may be increased at the discretion of a doctor, to 150mg twice per day (within one week of starting treatment). The dosage may be adjusted again, after which the patient may be prescribed a dosage ranging from 300mg to 450mg per day. Postherpetic neuralgia, diabetic neuropathy, peripheral neuropathy and other conditions are usually treated with different dosage regimens.
