Tegretol CR

Uses
Tegretol CR (Carbamazepine) has a number of medical applications, including the treatment of generalised tonic-clinic seizures, partial seizures and other types of seizures in patients with epilepsy. It is also widely used in the treatment of nerve pain, for example trigeminal neuralgia, and has been prescribed to patients with bipolar disorder.

This drug is a type of anti-epileptic medicine that works by helping to lessen the electrical activity in the brain that can trigger seizures. When used for neuropathic pain, it blocks the sending of pain signals, resulting in pain relief. Prominent medical researchers have also studied other potential off label uses for this drug, such as treating ADHD, borderline personality disorder, neuromyotinia, post traumatic stress disorder, complex regional pain syndrome and other conditions which have not been listed here.

Dosage and Administration
If you have been instructed by your doctor to undergo treatment with Tegretol CR (Carbamazepine) tablets, a dosage regimen specific to your needs will be decided upon by your doctor and clear instructions with regard to when to take the medicine and how much you need to take will be given to you. The dosage for trigeminal neuralgia may be different than the dosage for bipolar disorder or epilepsy, and patients may need to start treatment with a low dosage, which the doctor may adjust. Never take more than the amount your doctor directs you to take.

Side effects
Patients who are being treated with Tegretol CR (Carbamazepine) may experience some side effects, such as:

• Nausea
• A dry mouth
• Feeling drowsy
• Memory difficulties
• Soreness in the back

Tell your doctor about any side effects that you notice during treatment. Consult your doctor immediately if you notice problems related to vision, a reduced frequency of urination, bruising or any other severe symptoms which have not been listed here.

Precautions
Problems related to mental health, such as suicidal thoughts have been reported in a small number of patients who took this medicine. See your doctor straight away if this happens.

In rare cases, liver problems can occur as a result of taking this drug. You will need medical care straight away if any symptoms of liver problems occur.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Tegretol CR (Carbamazepine) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:
