Uses
Prograf (Tacrolimus) is given to patients who have received an organ transplant, to prevent the body from rejecting the newly transplanted heart, liver or kidney. This drug is in a class of medicines called immunosuppressants, and taking it decreases the activity of the immune system. This helps to prevent the immune system from treating the new organ as an invader, and fighting it, thereby helping the body to adjust to the new organ.
Dosage and Administration
You will be given Prograf (Tacrolimus) under strict medical supervision. In most cases, adult patients are told to take it twice per day, at 12 hour intervals. However, in all cases, the exact dosage required will be decided by the prescribing doctor. Regular medical tests may be necessary, to ensure that the medicine is not causing any serious side effects. In addition to this, patients should note that treatment should not be stopped without consulting a doctor.
