Uses
Provera (Medroxyprogesterone) contains an active ingredient which is a type of female hormone known as progestin. This hormone is responsible for regulating ovulation and menstruation. It is normally used as a treatment for abnormal vaginal bleeding in non-menopausal women who have not menstruated for a period of 6 months or more. Other uses for this medication include being used to reduce the risk of a condition known as endometrial hyperplasia in patients taking oestrogens, and preventing the overgrowth of the lining of the uterus in female patients undergoing hormone replacement therapy.
Dosage and administration
Provera (Medroxyprogesterone) tablets should be swallowed whole, with a glass of water in accordance with the dosage instructions provided by your doctor. Patients are normally told to take it on specific days during their monthly cycle. If you are unsure of the correct dosage requirements, you should ask your doctor to clarify for you.
