Uses
Reactin-100 SR (Diclofenac Sodium) is a pain relieving medicine which works by blocking the synthesis of prostaglandins. In addition to having analgesic properties, it can also reduce inflammation and function as an antipyretic. Conditions it is used for include ankylosing spondylitis, arthritis, osteoarthritis, acute musculoskeletal injuries or tendinitis. Some patients have taken it to relieve pain caused by surgery or other types of injuries.
The active ingredient in this drug is a type of NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug). It has been shown to diffuse with the synovial fluid in the joints, however medical experts are not sure whether this contributes to its action. By inhibiting the activity of COX, this medicine prevents or reduces the production of prostaglandins, and this can reduce swelling and pain. Studies have taken place on this drug for the management of kidney stones, gallstones, migraines, endometriosis and chronic pain caused by cancer.
Dosage and Administration
Reactin-100 SR (Diclofenac Sodium) comes as prolonged release tablets which contain 100mg of the active ingredient. Your doctor will conduct a medical examination and determine the dosage based on the condition being treated. The dosage for osteoarthritis may differ to that required for ankylosing spondylitis or dysmenorrhea. Other individual factors will also need to be considered such as the severity of the condition. It is extremely important that you comply with all dosage instructions given by your doctor. Do not adjust your dosage unless your doctor tells you to. If the patient does not notice that their condition has improved after 2 to 4 weeks of treatment, a different medicine may be recommended by the doctor.
