Uses
Rosuvas (Rosuvastatin Calcium) is used for a number of purposes. Doctors may prescribe it to reduce cholesterol levels (as well as other fatty substances) in the blood. In addition to this, doctors may prescribe it to patients with heart disease or those who are at risk of heart disease, to help lessen the likelihood of a stroke or heart attack. The active ingredient in this drug is a type of statin (also known as a HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor), and it works by preventing the arteries from getting blocked with cholesterol.

Dosage and Administration
If you have been prescribed Rosuvas (Rosuvastatin Calcium) by your doctor, it is very important that you strictly adhere to all instructions provided to you. The dosage required can vary greatly for each patient, and is decided based on the condition being treated and the patient's medical history. In some cases, adult patients treating hyperlipidaemia have been told to take 5mg to 10mg once per day, with the maintenance dose ranging from 5mg to 40mg per day. However, as this drug treats a wide range of conditions, the dosage can vary greatly. Most patients will be told to take it once per day, however, the prescribing doctor may need to adjust the dosage from time to time.

Side effects
Possible side effects of Rosuvas (Rosuvastatin Calcium) include:

• Sleep disturbances
• Slight memory loss
• Feeling confused
• Pain in the joints
• Depression

If any of the side effects mentioned here persist or become more serious, you must tell your doctor straight away. It is also important to note that more severe side effects may occur (although this is considered to be less common). If you notice muscular pain, fever, discoloured urine, flu symptoms, severe fatigue or any other side effects which are not mentioned here, you must consult your doctor immediately.

Precautions
Before you begin using this medication, it is essential that you inform your doctor if you have a history of kidney disease, liver problems or alcohol abuse.

Under no circumstances should this medication be taken by a pregnant woman. Also, reliable contraception should be used in order to ensure that a pregnancy does not occur. Tell your doctor immediately if you become pregnant while taking this medication.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Rosuvas (Rosuvastatin Calcium) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• If you suffer from any allergies.
• If you suffer from any other health conditions or illnesses.
• If you are using any other medicine (including all non-prescription).
• If you are using any supplements, vitamins, or herbal products of any kind.
