Uses
Seroquel (Quetiapine Fumarate) tablets are used for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder. In some cases, it may be used with other drugs. This medicine works by acting on neurotransmitters (including dopamine and serotonin) in the brain which helps to control the mood and behaviour in patients with schizophrenia. Medical studies have been carried out focusing on the effects of this drug if used for treating alcoholism, Tourette's syndrome, anxiety, post traumatic stress and borderline personality disorder.

Dosage and Administration
Patients who are taking Seroquel (Quetiapine Fumarate) must never take more than the amount prescribed by their doctor. Adult patients are sometimes told by their doctor to take it 1 to 3 times per day, however, the exact amount required may be different for each patient and it is important to listen to the doctor's instructions. Stopping treatment suddenly may cause withdrawal symptoms. Your doctor may need to gradually reduce your dosage when stopping treatment, so as to prevent this.

Side effects
Possible side effects of Seroquel (Quetiapine Fumarate) can include:

• Vomiting
• Speech problems
• Enlarged breasts
• Reduced sexual desire
• An increase in appetite and body weight

If any side effects occur, tell your doctor. Serious side effects are less common, but will need medical treatment straight away. See your doctor immediately if you notice stiff muscles, pain in the eyes, tremors, fever, an increase in urination or any other serious side effects.

Precautions
This medication is not recommended for treating Alzheimer's disease, and it is also not used to treat older adults with dementia.

If any suicidal thoughts or changes in mood occur, you should seek medical treatment immediately.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Seroquel (Quetiapine Fumarate) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• If you suffer from any allergies.
• If you suffer from any other health conditions or illnesses.
