Uses
Terbinafine (Terbinafine Hydrocloride) is used to treat fungal skin infections, such as ringworm (tinea corporis), jock itch (tinea cruris) or athlete's foot (tinea pedis), when oral treatment is required due to the fact that topical treatment is impractical. It is also widely used as a treatment for fungal nail infections (toenails or fingernails). This medicine works by preventing the fungi from growing, leading to the eventual treatment of the infection.
Dosage and Administration
Terbinafine (Terbinafine Hydrocloride) tablets are administered orally. Patients must consult their doctor prior to the commencement of treatment. After a medical examination, the proper dosage may be prescribed. Adults treating fingernail fungus may be told to take it for a period of 6 weeks, whereas those undergoing treatment for a toenail fungus may require 12 weeks of treatment. It is important to note that the full benefits of treatment will not be noticed until after a new and healthy nail has grown (usually a few months after treatment has stopped).
