Uses
Transamine (Tranexamic Acid) belongs to a class of medicines known as antifibrinolytics. It is a synthetic form of a protein known as lysine, and it works by preventing blood clots from being broken down. By preventing the production of a substance known as plasmin (which breaks down blood clots), it helps to stop the dissolution of blood clots, thereby leading to a reduction in bleeding. This drug is normally prescribed for treating menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding). Other conditions which patients have used it for treating include nose bleeds, angioneurotic oedema and bleeding caused by injury. It may also be given to patients to prevent bleeding caused by surgery.
