Uses
Triflucan (Fluconazole) is used as a treatment for many different types of fungal and yeast infections, and in particular, those occurring as a result of the Cryptococcus or Candida species of fungi. This medicine belongs to a group of drugs called triazole antifungals, and it works by preventing the fungi from producing ergosterol. Without this, holes begin to form in the membranes of the fungi, which leads to their destruction, thereby treating the infection.
Conditions treated include oral thrush, vaginal thrush, candidal balanitis (inflammation of the penis caused by fungi), as well as fungal infections affecting the throat, mouth, oesophagus, abdomen, blood, lungs and other organs in the body. It may also be prescribed for treating certain conditions which are not listed here.
Dosage and Administration
Triflucan (Fluconazole) capsules are taken orally. You must visit your doctor in order to determine the proper dosage, as well as the length of time for which treatment is required. Because this antifungal medicine is used to treat a wide range of different infections caused by fungi, the exact dosage can vary greatly, depending on the particular condition requiring treatment. After a thorough medical examination, your doctor will provide you with a dosage regimen which must be strictly adhered to.
