Uses
Trivastal L.A. (Piribedil) can be used for a number of conditions, including Parkinson's disease symptoms, depression, cognitive problems in elderly patients, intermittent claudication caused by peripheral vascular disease and various other conditions. When used for Parkinson's disease, it may be used on its own or else in combination with other drugs. This medicine is a type of dopaminergic agonist, and when taken, its mechanism of action causes stimulation of the dopamine receptors.
Medical studies have been conducted, which showed potential benefits in increasing the memory ability in adults, and may also enhance the ability to learn skills and increase cognition in certain patients. It has even been suggested that it may have positive effects if used for restless leg syndrome.
Dosage and Administration
Trivastal L.A. (Piribedil) comes as sustained release tablets, which are taken by mouth. You must visit your doctor for a medical examination so that the correct dosage can be prescribed. Adults treating conditions other than Parkinson's disease are sometimes told to take one 50mg tablet each day, after each main meal. However, if the symptoms are more severe, 2 tablets per day, administered as separate doses, after each of the 2 main meals of the day. The dosage for Parkinson's disease will depend on the severity of symptoms, and whether it is being uses as a monotherapy (on its own) or in combination with other drugs.
