Uses
Sinemet CR (Levodopa/Carbidopa) is given as a treatment for Parkinson's disease symptoms. It may also be given to treat Parkinson's-like symptoms occurring as a result of poisoning. Shaking, stiffness and other Parkinson's symptoms occur because of a shortage of dopamine in the brain. One of the active ingredients in this drug, Levodopa, is effective as it is converted to dopamine. The other ingredient, Carbidopa, prevents the breakdown of Levodopa before it reaches the brain and is converted to dopamine.
