Uses
Yaz (Ethinyloestradiol/Dropsirenone/Lactose) is an oral contraceptive for women who do not wish to become pregnant. It does not protect you from sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Yaz is a very reliable way to prevent pregnancy with only as little as 0.2% to 3% failure rate. The low dosage of this drug means the risks of side effects are lower than other birth control medications.
Providing that the directions for taking this medicine are followed correctly, protection will start from the first day of taking this medication and do not cease until the last day of taking this medication.
Dosage and Administration
Before taking YAZ (Ethinyloestradiol/Dropirenone/Lactose), you should discuss your overall health with your doctor to ensure it is safe for you to use.
Only use this medication according to your doctor`s directions. If in doubt, always seek medical advice from your doctor.
Typically you will be instructed to take one contraceptive pill every day according to the direction of the arrows (printed clearly on the pill packaging) for 28 days continuously starting on the first day of your period. Protection starts from day 1 and continues through menstruation.
Twenty four of the twenty eight pills have active medical substance, the remaining four pills are acting as placebos. When these placebos are taken your body should menstruate.
For the best effects you should aim to take each pill at the same time every day. If you miss a pill, take it as soon as you remember providing that you have not missed your dose for more than 12 hours. If your regular dose is more than 12 hours, you should skip the missed dose and continue to take YAZ (Ethinyloestradiol/Dropirenone/Lactose) as normal on your next dose. However during this period you should use other forms of contraception when engaging in sexual intercourse as Yaz will be ineffective during the month it is missed.
