Uses
EllaOne is the emergency contraceptive pill as also we known as "morning after pill" which is used for an unprotected sexual intercourse or contraceptive failure.
The pill contains the active ingredient ulipristal acetate, which is a selective progesterone receptor modulator. It works by acting on the body's receptors for the naturally occurring female sex hormone, progesterone.
This pill is preventing ovulating and fertilization. They thicken the mucus in the cervix, making it difficult for a sperm to enter. They also affect the womb lining, preventing any fertilized eggs from being implanted on the womb, and they can prevent an egg from being released.
EllaOne should be taken as soon as possible after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure and no later than 120 Hours (5 days). However, if you are already pregnant, it will not interrupt an existing pregnancy.
