Uses
Albaquin Cream (Monobenzone USP) is used for skin lightening in patients affected by vitiligo, a condition that causes irregular white patches to appear on the skin. This occurs due to the loss of melanocytes (the cells which produce the pigments that give the skin its colour). Although this disease cannot be cured, it is often treated with a depigmentation cream such as this one.
Treatment with this cream aims to permanently remove the colour of any normal coloured skin that is located near the skin affected by vitiligo, so as to give the skin a uniform colour. It achieves this by eliminating the pigment molecules from the skin cells. Patients should note that it is not considered an appropriate treatment for freckles, discoloured skin, melanoma or other skin pigmentation conditions, as it causes permanent discolouration.
Dosage and Administration
You will be provided with clear application instructions before beginning treatment with Albaquin Cream (Monobenzone USP) for vitiligo. Adult patients are usually told by their doctor to apply the cream to the normal coloured skin that needs depigmentation 2 to 3 times per day. In most cases, 4 months of treatment are necessary before the full benefits of treatment are required. Once satisfactory results are achieved, your doctor may recommend using it twice per week in order to maintain the skin's newly achieved colour.
