Uses
Arrow-Quinapril (Quinapril Hydrochloride) is an antihypertensive medicine which works by inhibiting ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme). This allows for a reduction in blood pressure. In the body, there is a hormone system known as the renin-angiotensin system (RAS), and its function is to control the levels of fluids in the body, as well as the blood pressure. The RAS also controls the conversion of angiotensin I into angiotensin II. This is catalyzed by the ACE, and the production of angiotensin II (which has vasoconstrictive properties) can lead to the tightening of the blood vessels, which results in high blood pressure.
