Uses
Biduret-L (Amiloride Hydrochloride/Hydrochlorothiazide) is a combination of two active ingredients that is widely prescribed for oedema (fluid retention) and high blood pressure (also known as hypertension). Amiloride belongs to a class of drugs called potassium sparing diuretics, and the other active ingredient (hydrochlorothiazide) is a thiazide diuretic.

When taken, this medicine acts on the kidneys and helps the body to rid itself of unnecessary salt and water. In addition to this, amiloride helps to stop too much potassium being lost.

Dosage and Administration
Biduret-L (Amiloride Hydrochloride/Hydrochlorothiazide) comes as tablets, which are administered orally (with food). It is essential that all patients undergoing treatment with this drug visit their doctor for a full medical assessment prior to commencing treatment. After examining the patient, it is possible for the doctor providing medical care to prescribe the appropriate dose. Patients may be advised to take their dose before 6pm. This is because taking this drug can increase urination, which may lead to sleep disturbances.

Side effects
Treatment with Biduret-L (Amiloride Hydrochloride/Hydrochlorothiazide) may sometimes result in side effects, such as:

• Weakness
• A reduction in appetite
• Salivary gland inflammation
• Skin that is sensitive to sunlight
• Changes in the levels of blood sugar

Notify your doctor if any side effects occur. Severe reactions will require medical attention as soon as possible. Examples of this include problems related to urination, impotence, severe thirst and other possible reactions that have not been mentioned here.

Precautions
Dizziness can occur as a result of taking this drug. Patients should note that drinking alcohol, exercising or hot weather can worsen these effects.

This drug can make it easier for you to become sunburned. Therefore, you are advised to take all necessary precautions so as to avoid this.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Biduret-L (Amiloride Hydrochloride/Hydrochlorothiazide) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:
