Uses
Cilacar T (Cilnidipine/Telmisartan) is a combination of 2 medicines which helps control high blood pressure by widening the peripheral blood vessels so as to improve the flow of blood. Telmisartan is a type of angiotensin II receptor antagonist, and its mode of action is inhibiting the effects of angiotensin II, a hormone which can have vasoconstrictive effects, resulting in narrow blood vessels.
It also triggers the production of a hormone known as aldosterone, which results in more fluid circulating within the blood vessels. Blocking the action of angiotensin II by affecting the receptors it needs to act on thereby prevents the narrowing of blood vessels. Because of this, the vessels widen and a reduction in blood pressure occurs. Cilnidipine is a type of medicine known as a calcium channel blocker, and it works by blocking the N-type calcium channel. It is indicated for the management of high blood pressure.
