Uses
Flixotide Accuhaler (Fluticasone Propionate) contains a type of corticosteroid medication, which is inhaled into the lungs. This helps to reduce swelling in the airways of the patient's lungs, thereby helping to make breathing easier. When used daily, it can reduce the occurrence of asthma attacks, which allows patients to carry out their activities without being disrupted by asthma attacks. However, it is only a "preventer" and is not a replacement for a quick relief inhaler. Other uses for this drug may include treating emphysema and other serious breathing conditions.
Dosage and Administration
Flixotide Accuhaler (Fluticasone Propionate) is inserted into the mouth, after which the prescribed amount of medication should be inhaled into the lungs. All patients must undergo a medical examination prior to using it, so that their doctor can decide on the correct dosage to treat them. Adults may be prescribed anything from 100 micrograms to 1000 micrograms twice per day. This inhaler must be used every day for it to be effective. As the dosage may vary greatly for each patient, it is very important that all patients follow the instructions of the prescribing doctor. It is also worth noting that children are generally prescribed a lower dosage than adults.
