Uses
Flixotide (Fluticasone Propionate) inhaler is a corticosteroid medicine used for asthma. This inhaler is often referred to as a preventer, because the goal of treatment is to prevent the occurrence of asthma attacks in patients who need to be treated regularly. It is not used to quickly relieve sudden asthma attacks. Your doctor may prescribe a type of inhaler called a reliever for this purpose. When inhaled, the potent anti inflammatory effects of this medicine begin to work in the airways and lungs, helping to prevent inflammation and the formation of excess mucus in the airways. Regular use can help prevent or decrease asthma attacks.

Dosage and Administration
Flixotide (Fluticasone Propionate) comes as an inhaler, which contains enough medicine for 120 doses. Each dose is metered and contains 50mcg of the active ingredient. The doctor who is providing treatment will determine the correct dosage regimen based on the patient`s condition and medical history. Before the first use of the inhaler, it may be necessary to check that it is working properly, and a test spray is usually recommended for this purpose. If you have not used it in over a week, 2 test sprays of medicine may be needed. Follow the usage instructions given, and if you are unsure of the correct inhalation procedure, ask your doctor. Never use more than the prescribed dosage.

Side effects
Use of Flixotide (Fluticasone Propionate) to prevent asthma attacks may cause:

• Hoarse voice
• Speech problems
• Dry mouth or nose
• Pain affecting the sinus
• Soreness affecting the throat or tongue

It is necessary to tell your doctor about any side effects that occur. Serious side effects are possible, however, this is usually less common. You must seek immediate medical treatment if you notice bruising, bumps filled with fluid that appear on the skin, unusual facial hair growth, anxiety, coughing or any other serious side effects.

Precautions
If you have been undergoing treatment with corticosteroid medicines for an extended period of time, your doctor may tell you not to suddenly stop treatment without seeking medical advice, as doing so may cause drowsiness, vomiting and nausea.

Patients who have been using this inhaler for 7 days of more who fail to notice an improvement in breathing symptoms, or whose condition worsens should immediately seek medical treatment.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Flixotide (Fluticasone Propionate) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• If you suffer from any allergies.
• If you suffer from any other health conditions or illnesses.
• If you are using any other medicine (including all non-prescription).
• If you are using any supplements, vitamins, or herbal products of any kind.
