Kenadion

Uses
Kenadion contains the active ingredient Phytomenadione. It is a synthetic form of Vitamin K. Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin essential to the blood clotting process. It is prescribed to help reduce bleeding in cases where anticoagulant medicines have thinned the blood too much. Phytomenadione can also be used to people taking Warfarin before an operation.

Dosage and Administration
Kenadion (Phytomenadione) should be injected by a doctor or a nurse. Your doctor will prescribe Kenadion (Phytomenadione) only after they have determined from blood tests that it is required, or as needed prior to an operation.

Side effects
Kenadion (Phytomenadione) is very unlikely to cause any negative side effects. Some people may experience irritation or allergic-type reactions. If you think you are experiencing side effects as a result of Phytomenadione, contact your doctor.

Precautions
Your doctor should know if you are pregnant or breast-feeding, allergic to any medicines, or taking any medicines (especially any other coagulants or anticoagulants) before beginning treatment with Phytomenadione. You will probably need to take regular blood tests while being treated with Phytomenadione to make sure a good balance between Warfarin and Phytomenadione is maintained.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Kenadion (Phytomenadione) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.
