Intermittent claudication Cilostazol Pletoz

Uses
Pletoz (Cilostazol) is both an anti-platelet medication and a vasodilator. It is prescribed to treat blood circulation problems affecting the legs (commonly referred to as intermittent claudication). This medication prevents blood cells from clotting, and also widens the blood vessels, which improves blood circulation in the legs. Improving the blood flow in the legs prevents cramps and muscle pain which can occur while exercising.

Dosage and Administration
You will need to visit your doctor for a medical examination before Pletoz (Cilostazol) tablets can be prescribed to you. Adult patients taking this drug are sometimes told to take it twice per day. This medication is taken on an empty stomach, and patients are advised to take their dose either 30 minutes or more before eating, or else 2 hours after they eat. This medication will not cure intermittent claudication, however, it can control the symptoms of this condition. Some patients may notice an improvement in their symptoms after 2 to 4 weeks, however it usually takes 12 weeks of treatment before patients notice the full positive benefits of treatment.

Side effects
You may notice some side effects when taking Pletoz (Cilostazol), such as:

  • Cold symptoms
  • Muscle aches
  • Cramps in the legs
  • Pain in the stomach
  • Numbness or a tingling sensation

If any of the side effects which have been listed above become severe or do not go away, you must consult your doctor. Severe reactions are also possible when taking this drug, and will require immediate medical attention. Examples of this include blood noticeable in the urine, pain when urinating, inflammation affecting the feet and ankles, fainting and breathlessness. Other side effects which have not been listed here may also occur in some cases.

Precautions
This drug may increase the risk of death in patients who suffer from congestive heart failure, and is therefore not considered to be suitable for treating patients affected by this condition.

If you suffer from any conditions which cause severe bleeding, your doctor will most likely tell you not to take this drug.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Pletoz (Cilostazol) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you suffer from any allergies.
  • If you suffer from any other health conditions or illnesses.
