Uses
Muvera (Meloxicam) is used by patients suffering from arthritis, to provide relief from swelling and pain in the joints. Various types of arthritis can be treated with this medicine, such as ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. This medicine is a non-steroidal anti inflammatory drug, and it works by blocking the action of a substance known as COX (cyclo-oxygenase). Without this substance, the body is unable to produce prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are naturally produced by the body in response to pain and injury, and are responsible for causing swelling and pain. Preventing them from being produced relieves pain and swelling.

Dosage and Administration
Follow your doctor's instructions when taking Muvera (Meloxicam) tablets. The most commonly prescribed dosage regimen for adults treating osteoarthritis and rheumatoid is 7.5mg taken once per day. Some patients may be prescribed a different dosage, however, the manufacturers state that the maximum dose is 15mg per day. Follow the instructions given to you by your doctor, and never take more than the amount prescribed to you.

Side effects
Treating arthritis with Muvera (Meloxicam) tablets might cause you to experience side effects. Ask your doctor if you are concerned about this. Some possible reactions include:

• Vertigo
• Anaemia
• Sore throat
• Gastritis
• Increased blood pressure

You must inform your doctor if any side effects are noticed. This is especially important if any reactions become persistent or bothersome. Serious side effects can occur, and require immediate medical attention. Examples of this include ulceration of the stomach, kidney function problems, oedema, bronchospasms and painful urination.

Precautions
Stomach and intestinal bleeding may occur in some cases. Discuss the risk of this with the prescribing doctor before you start taking this medication.

Tell your doctor straight away if an infection occurs while taking this medication. This is because in some cases, infection symptoms may be masked by this drug, causing you to believe that an infection is improving, when in actual fact it is not.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Muvera (Meloxicam) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• If you suffer from any allergies.
• If you suffer from any other health conditions or illnesses.
• If you are using any other medicine (including all non-prescription).
• If you are using any supplements, vitamins, or herbal products of any kind.
