Uses
Nervz-G (Methylcobalamin/Gabapentin) is a combination of gabapentin, an anticonvulsant drug that is used widely in the treatment of seizure disorders such as epilepsy, and methylcobalamin, which is a form of vitamin B12 that is often used by doctors treating peripheral neuropathy, or to prevent a vitamin B12 deficiency. When combined into a single tablet, it is widely used for its anticonvulsant properties, so as to reduce or prevent seizures.
Other uses including treating restless leg syndrome, conditions involving nerve pain such as trigeminal neuralgia, diabetic neuropathy and peripheral neuropathy, post herpetic neuralgia (nerve pain occurring as a result of a virus called varicella zoster or shingles) and preventing migraine. Medical research has being conducted to determine whether there are any other possible off label uses for this drug. The researchers focused on its benefits if used for multiple sclerosis, menopausal symptoms, bipolar disorder, smoking cessation and anxiety. However, doctors mainly prescribe it for epilepsy and nerve pain.
Dosage and Administration
Nervz-G (Methylcobalamin/Gabapentin) tablets contain 500mcg of methylcobalamin and 300mg of gabapentin. The right amount of medicine is usually different for each patient, depending on various factors, and your doctor will tell you how much you need to take. In some cases, adults treating epilepsy are started out on a low dose, which may be increased at the discretion of your doctor. Postherpetic neuralgia and other conditions may need a different dosage regimen and in all cases, the instructions of the doctor must be followed.
