Uses
Premia Continuous (Conjugated Oestrogens/Medroxyprogesterone Acetate) consists of a combination of hormones and is used to treat menopausal symptoms. It works by providing the body with progesterone and oestrogen to compensate for the drop in these hormones that the menopause causes. This form of treatment is referred to as HRT, which stands for hormone replacement therapy. Conjugated oestrogens are made up from a variety of naturally occurring female sex hormones.

These hormones share similarities to those that the body naturally makes prior to the occurrence of the menopause. Medroxyprogesterone acetate is a type of progestogen hormone which works like progesterone, another hormone that the body produces before the menopause. Generally, women experience the menopause when they are 45 to 55 years old. Vaginal itching, dryness, and hot flushes can occur because the body produces less oestrogen. Osteoporosis may even occur in some cases. Your doctor may recommend HRT in order to relieve or eliminate these symptoms.

Dosage and Administration
Premia Continuous (Conjugated Oestrogens/Medroxyprogesterone Acetate) is administered according to a 28 day cycle in which patients are told by their doctor to take one tablet per day. Each tablet contains 0.625mg of conjugated oestrogens and 2.5mg of medroxyprogestone acetate. The packet is marked with each day so as to make it easy to keep track of when to take it. Patients should make sure that the first blister pack is finished before taking a new one. Ask your doctor what to do if you miss a dose.
