Treatment for menopausal symptoms | Conjugated Estrogens | CONJYA-0.625 |
Uses
CONJYA-0.625 (Conjugated Estrogens) contains female sex hormones and is used for hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Indications include treating symptoms of the menopause (vaginal dryness, itching, hot flushes, mood changes and perspiration at night), hypoestrogenism, breast cancer, prostate cancer and preventing postmenopausal osteoporosis.
Vaginal and vasomotor symptoms of the menopause are caused as a direct result of the ovaries producing a reduced amount of oestrogen, which means that the levels oestrogen circulating in the blood also decline. Orally administered oestrogen (such as that provided in these tablets) is often administered so as to replenish the declining oestrogen levels, thereby helping to alleviate the discomfort caused during the menopause.
Dosage and Administration
CONJYA-0.625 (Conjugated Estrogens) is provided in the form of tablets for oral administration. Follow the instructions of your doctor when taking the medicine. Before you commence treatment, your doctor will assess your individual requirements and calculate a dosage schedule best suited to you. Doctors generally use the lowest possible effective dosage for the shortest period of time so as to minimize the risk to the patient.
Regular re-evaluation (every 3 to 6 months) will also be necessary, so that your doctor can continuously re-assess the need for treatment. Women with a uterus undergoing oestrogen hormone replacement therapy may also be directed to take progestin, however progestin is not needed in women without a uterus.
