Uses
Siterone (Cyproterone Acetate) is primarily used as a prostate cancer treatment. It is a type of anti-androgen, which inhibits the actions of androgens (male sex hormones) and also decreases androgen production. Medical studies have determined that male hormones play a substantial role in the growth of prostate tumours. Blocking the action of these hormones may help to provide relief from tumours on the prostate gland. Other uses for which patients have used this medicine include decreasing an overactive sex drive and treating severe hirsutism in females.

Dosage and Administration
The dosage prescribed to patients taking Siterone (Cyproterone Acetate) tablets depends on the condition being treated. Adult males treating an overactive sex drive are sometimes prescribed a dosage of 50mg, taken twice per day. The tablets should be taken after eating.

For providing relief from prostate cancer symptoms, adult males are sometimes directed to start off with taking two 50mg tablets twice per day, for a total of 200mg per day. This continues for 5 to 7 days. After this, the patient may be told to take the same dosage, alongside another medicine, for 3 to 4 weeks. If long term treatment is needed, a different dosage may be prescribed.

Side effects
Taking Siterone (Cyproterone Acetate) can sometimes cause side effects, such as:

• Restlessness
• A reduction in libido
• Decreased sperm count
• Changes in body weight
• Less semen ejaculated than usual

Other side effects include breast enlargement, breathlessness, depression, scalp dryness, hair growth and other reactions which have not been listed here. Some of the side effects that have been mentioned here are serious and will require medical care straight away, and it is also possible that other severe reactions will occur.

Precautions
Patients may be required to have blood tests conducted regularly during treatment with this drug.

Your doctor may tell you to avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Siterone (Cyproterone Acetate) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:
