Uses
Telma (Telmisartan) is used to treat hypertension, heart failure and to prevent kidney damage in patients with type 2 diabetes. This medicine helps to cause a widening of the peripheral blood vessels, thereby reducing pressure within them. In addition to this, it can reduce the volume of fluids present in the blood vessels, which also contributes to a reduction in blood pressure.

Dosage and Administration
Telma (Telmisartan) comes as 80mg tablets. Patients taking this medicine should follow the dosage instructions that their doctor gives them. In some cases, it may be necessary for the doctor to monitor the patient's blood pressure and make adjustments to the dosage if necessary. In most cases, 2 to 4 weeks of treatment are required before the blood pressure is brought under control. If no improvement occurs after 4 weeks, tell your doctor.

Side effects
Side effects may occur as a result of taking Telma (Telmisartan) to treat high blood pressure or other conditions, and some examples are provided here:

• Headache
• Coughing
• Spinning sensation
• Soreness in the back
• Stuffiness affecting the nose

Your doctor should be informed if any side effects occur. Serious side effects are possible in patients treated with this medicine. You must go to see your doctor as soon as possible if you notice blistering that occurs on the skin, cramps in the lower leg, pain while urinating, swelling of the limbs, signs of high potassium levels or any other side effects which have not been listed here.

Precautions
Although it is rare, there is a possibility that treatment with this drug could lead to a breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue, which may cause kidney failure. Ask your doctor about the risk of this before starting treatment.

This medicine should never be taken during pregnancy, and precautions should be taken during treatment to ensure that a pregnancy does not occur. This is because it may severely harm an unborn baby.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.
