Uses
Zeptol (Carbamazepine) is a seizure medicine which can be used to treat seizures caused by epilepsy. It does this by preventing abnormal electrical activity in the patient's brain. This prevents overstimulation of the brain, disturbance of the brain function and seizures. Other conditions can be effectively treated with this drug, including trigeminal neuralgia (a condition that causes nerve pain in the face) and pain caused by diabetic neuropathy. In some cases, the active ingredient in this medicine has been used to treat bipolar disorder.
Dosage and Administration
Zeptol (Carbamazepine) must be taken as instructed by your doctor. A medical consultation is necessary prior to treatment, so that your condition can be assessed and the correct dosage prescribed. Adults treating epilepsy may be told to take 200mg twice per day. This dosage may be increased by the prescribing doctor weekly until the most suitable and effective amount can be prescribed. The maintenance dosage generally ranges from 800mg to 1200mg per day. Never take more than the amount prescribed by your doctor.
