Uses
Abilify (Aripiprazole) is an antipsychotic drug prescribed for treating a wide range of mental disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, clinical depression and other related conditions. It has also been suggested that it may be useful in treating drug addiction. When taken, this drug acts on the 5HT (serotonin) and dopamine receptors in the brain. It is widely believed that by stabilising the activity of dopamine in the patient's brain, symptoms of mental disorders may be reduced, such as a lack of interest in life, aggressive behaviour and other related symptoms.
Dosage and Administration
Different dosage regimens will be prescribed for patients taking Abilify (Aripiprazole), with the exact amount required depending on the condition requiring treatment. Adult patients taking this medicine for schizophrenia may be told by their doctor to start out on a dosage of 10mg or 15mg, taken once per day. This dosage may be increased if the prescribing doctor deems it necessary. Other conditions may require different dosage regimens, and it is essential to visit your doctor before starting treatment.
