Uses
Abilify (Aripiprazole) is taken by patients affected by schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. In some cases, it may be prescribed by doctors to treat irritability in young autistic patients. Medical research has been conducted to test its effectiveness in treating narcotic dependency. Mental disorders such as schizophrenia are believed to occur as a result of a disturbance of the neurotransmitters in the brain. It is thought that this drug works by normalising the activity of the neurotransmitters in the brain, which may help to reduce delusion, emotional problems and hostile behaviour in patients affected by schizophrenia.
Dosage and Administration
A visit to the doctor is necessary prior to commencing treatment with Abilify (Aripiprazole) tablets. In most cases, the initial dosage prescribed to patients treating schizophrenia ranges from 10mg to 15mg per day. Patients may then have their dosage adjusted and a dosage of 10mg to 30mg may be prescribed. The dosage is usually not adjusted until a steady state has been achieved. Patients being treated for bipolar disorder may be told to start out with 15mg per day. Depending on the patient's response, the prescribing doctor may decide to increase the dosage to 30mg per day.
