Uses
Aropax (Paroxetine) relieves major depressive disorder (MDD), obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety, PTSD and social phobia by acting in the central nervous system so as to inhibit the neuronal reuptake of serotonin (a neurotransmitter). The subsequent effect on 5-HT (serotonin) activity helps to normalise the chemical balance in the brain, thereby producing this medicine`s antidepressive and anxiolyctic (anxiety relieving) effects, and helping to relieve depression and other related conditions. It is in the SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) class of medicines. Medical experts have also conducted research to explore other potential uses. These studies focused on premenstrual dysphoric disorder, diabetic neuropathy, premature ejaculation, headaches and menopausal flushes.
Dosage and Administration
Aropax (Paroxetine) is provided in 20mg strength tablet form. In all cases, the correct dosage will be decided upon by the doctor providing medical care. Adult patients treating anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder or depression are usually told by their doctor to take 20mg (equal to one tablet) every day. Depending on the clinical response to treatment, the dosage may be increased gradually at the discretion of the doctor over a period of weeks. Panic attacks, OCD or other conditions may need a different dosage. Always follow the instructions given by the doctor.
Side effects
Some possible reactions which may or may not be experienced by patients undergoing treatment with Aropax (Paroxetine) include:

Withdrawal symptoms have occurred in patients abruptly withdrawn from treatment. Doctors normally stop the treatment over a gradual period of time so as to prevent this from happening.
If you become more depressed after taking this medicine, or if suicidal thoughts occur, see your doctor straight away.
Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.
Always use Aropax (Paroxetine) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.
